Aiming deep … yet high!
Who can ever take poor appetite can inspire a sufferer to achieve heights!
15-year-old swimmer had poor appetite, was all bones and no flesh, low on pounds and thus decided to join swimming on a medical advise. And this advice brought to her knowledge her real passion!
Manna Patel started swimming when she was just 7-year-old … to increase her appetite; though the only motive was limited to that but it gradually became her passion. Practicing the sport with all her heart, she was chosen as the best swimmer of the 67th National Aquatic meet at an age of merely 13,.
The list doesn’t end here. Manna went on to break India’s star swimmer Shikha Tandon’s record in the Asian Age Group Championship in Tokyo in 2009. And then she won the title of Overall Best Swimmer at the National Championships not once but … hold your breaths, dear readers, she has taken the title as many as five times!
No, this can’t be true! Manna is the first swimmer to be roped in by Olympic Gold Quest. This young swimmer from Ahemdabad definitely believes in making records.
"She was a gifted child, but we never thought people would talk about her representing India at the Olympics. She's young, but mature enough to know that the only competition that she has is herself. Ever since she's gone pro, her swimming has become a priority for me and my husband. We had our last vacation in 2010”, said Manna’s mother Aanal in an interview with a news daily.
This girl is certainly an inspiration for many, and the thing that is more compelling is how her quest to gain some weight became her passion. The girl with all her might feels thankful to her parents for all the support that they have extended towards her!
All the best Manna, Team ScooTalks sends Cheers to you!
