Students of The Heritage School Gurgaon, proving themselves to be the true citizens of India, have started doing what our government couldn’t. Taking responsibility to take care of and preserve Farrukhanagar Fort, which is located 22km out on the outskirts of the city. The fort, established by Baloch-era Nawab of Farrukhnagar, Faujdar Khan in the year 1732, is on the verge of crumbling down after years and years of neglect. Finding saviors in the young students of Class 5th of the school, the fort could be flashing a hidden smile now!
The students will do an audio recording talking about the importance and significance of the fort. And since it is the latest generation kids, technology can’t be left far behind. Utilizing the advancing technology, the kids will be uploading an audio recording which will be talking of the importance and significance of the fort. To make it easily available for everyone, QR codes will also be installed inside the fort thus giving instant access to anyone who visits the fort. The audio will also impart information about one of the well-known baolis of Delhi and the famous Jama Masjid too.
The students, trying make their dream project be a huge success, are also seeking permissions from the likes of National Museum and American Institute of Indian Studies to post their QR codes. The students are not shying away to seek help from other well-renowned resources like Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, or John Keay a well known historical writer, or even the locals.
Ask them why they are taking so much pain for this fort and what they would tell you will surprise you. They say that other than the history books in their curriculum, all that could teach them the history of their culture, it is these forts.
