Merry Time at Sanskar School

Sanskar School , Jaipur | December 09, 2015

Sanskar School not only believes in imparting sanskar of nativity, but tried to teach its students the culture of entire world. In an effort towards the same, the school had organized an exhibition, ‘Merry Time’, which was all about festivals and celebrations from across the world.

Students who participated in the exhibition beamed with energy to start celebrating the festivals like Snow festival, La Tomatina from Spain, Sand festival, etc. Students had thrown light on these festivals with performing arts. The performing kids were so young that most of the words that they spoke was at many times tough to grasp, yet the enthusiasm that they presented with was appreciable.

The function began with lamp lightening by the Principal Ma’am, Rama Dutt, followed by several performances based on different festivals. The performances brought out what kids conclude out of these festivals, how they see every new day as a celebration. Girls dressed up in pink frilly frocks and boys in handsome red danced adorably. Holding each other’s hands the lil’ couples did a ball dance with quite a lot of excitement, depicting the joys of life each festival offers.

La Tomatina, a well-known festival ever since the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, was here given a new angle. The kids enacted the history behind this festival, then enacted a skit depicting a funeral march of the tomatoes lost in the feud and then carried on with the celebrations.

Students also celebrated Chinese new year, wearing traditional Chinese dresses, decked up in Cheonsam and Changpao.

Halloween makes me think of Jack-o’-lantern, apple bobbing and last but not the least haunted attractions. And to our amusement, all these elements were present on stage to give a complete feel of Halloween to the audience of Sanskar. Sweet lil’ girl dressed up in black as a ghost recited a poem on Halloween and ended with a frightening “Bhaowww”, which then concluded with a horror dance performance on the song ‘Twinkle twinkle little star’ that looked adorable rather than horrifying.

And when you think festivals, India’s the one country that always tops the charts. Here too, it were the Indian festivals that cheered up the audience the most. Students performing on Holi, vibrantly dressed dancing to the tunes of Rang Rangili Holi Aayi Re saw many in the audience tapping their feet and clapping.

Other than the performances, the students also did their part in decorating the school hall with their charts papers designed with ideas of festivals. Team ScooTalks was amazed at the way these kids had put in their efforts in making these theme-based charts.

The event ended on a very energetic note, teaching about various cultures and festivals.
