With many private schools in Rajasthan suddenly increasing fees, the state government has ordered for an immediate probe. The fees increment came at an odd-timing for parents. The schools, totaling to 11000 in number, that have increased their fees did it suddenly after the physical verification of students for reserved quota was done.
The state education ministry has asked the district officers to probe into the matter and report their findings to the head. Talking about the seriousness of the matter, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Commissioner, Mr. B.L. Jatawat, has concerns that the issue might see some government officials behind the increment of fees.
It was noticed by the ministry that as many as 40% private schools have increased the fees by 20%; for the purpose some concerned government officials have approved the increased fees. Now the Rajasthan Education ministry doubts a secret collaboration between private schools and local government officials.
It was when the concerned department was analyzing the approved fees in the private schools of Rajasthan for the coming academic year that the sudden hike was noticed.
The state education ministry smells something cooking there. It doubts that since the government has to reimburse the fees of economically backward section and reserved seat students, schools along with the local government officials could have probably increased the fees in records. With this, the schools nad local officials can easily claim higher reimbursements.
