Students of class 5 at Terna Orchids The International School, Koperkhairane, Mumbai had an interesting and interactive lesson about Earth on Monday.
Teaching solar system as a part of science subject to class 5, the teacher conducted an activity in the classroom in which students depicted the structure of Earth using clay. They made a small ball with one colour clay and adding two more layers of different colours to it to make one large ball, which they then cut through to understand the structure of Earth as crust, mantle and core.
It was a simple lesson, however, with some interactive activity, it was made easier to relate to and interesting too.
The entire school turned into a mini zoo with sounds of barking, chirping, meowing as the young ones brought different breeds of dogs, cats, parrots, parakeets, birds, fish, etc, to the campus.
